Pelican Chair in Gotland Sheep Skin
Brand: House of Finn Juhl
Designer: Finn Juhl
Finn Juhl’s fascination for surrealism is clearly visible in the Pelican Chair. Among all his designs, the Pelican Chair was perhaps the furthest ahead of its time. When the Pelican Chair was presented at the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers’ Guild Exhibition in 1940, it stood out with its unusual animalistic shape and sturdy legs.
Once a year, Finn Juhl's characteristic Pelican Chair becomes available with sheepskin from the Swedish island of Gotland. When the Pelican is upholstered in sheepskin from Gotland, the expression of the upholstery is entirely defined by nature. This means that each and every Pelican Chair will have an original and individual expression that emphasizes the characteristic and animalistic nature of the chair. The chair is upholstered by hand in Denmark and the legs are available in oak, walnut, or black painted.
